Welcome to Philosophy at Macquarie

Macquarie's philosophy department is one of the youngest, most active, most diverse, and most well-balanced in Australia. In both teaching and reseach our expertise is wide ranging and includes most areas and traditions within the discipline.

The Department welcomes Prof. Jeanette Kennett.

A warm welcome to Prof Jeanette Kennett who has joined us from CAPPE (ANU/Charles Sturt). Jeanette specialises in moral psychology and meta-ethics, and has a shared appointment with the Macquarie Center for Cognitive Science.

The Department welcomes Prof. Wendy Rogers.

A warm welcome to Prof Wendy Rogers who has joined us from Flinders University. Wendy, who is a medical doctor as well as a philosopher, specialises in clinical ethics and has a shared appointment with the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie.

The Department welcomes Dr. Paul Formosa

A warm welcome to Dr Paul Formosa who has just joined us from University of Queensland to take up a 3-year post-doctoral research position. Paul, who has a Macquarie University Research Fellowship, will be working on justice, deliberative democracy and political identity with special reference to Kant's political philosophy.

Our next research seminar is on Tuesday May 26th. Everyone is welcome to come along. Professor Peter Menzies will give a paper on "Mental Causation in the Physical World". Details are here.

THE PLATONIC SOCIETY is running its -Philosophy Conversations @ the Bar- again this year. Meetings will be every week during semester, THURSDAYS 5PM at the UNI BAR. Check out the Platonic Society's website for more details. Or join their Facebook group.
