Australasian Philosophy Postgraduate Conference 2009
Philosophy and the Real World
15th to 17th April 2009
Call for papers Now closed
Macquarie University and ANU are jointly organizing the 2009 APPC.
This year's conference seeks to bring together researchers in philosophy and other disciplines
interested in the intersection between philosophy and contemporary issues, such as science,
technology, and current social and political debates. With such rapid change taking place in the
world over the last quarter century, the "traditional" fields of philosophy must engage with other
disciplines, for example, biology and multimedia technologies in order to address those issues which
concern us all. However, we recognise the continuing importance of the established lines of
philosophical inquiry (e.g. metaphysics, logic, ethics, history of philosophy etc.), and will happily
accept submissions in these areas as well.
The conference will be held between the 15th and 17th of April 2009 on the rolling green campus of
Macquarie University, North Ryde, Sydney.
