Paul Formosa

Paul completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Queensland in 2008 before joining the Department of Philosophy at Macquarie in 2009. Paul is currently a Macquarie University Research Fellow undertaking a three year project on Kant’s practical philosophy. He has taught units in moral and political philosophy at the University of Queensland and Macquarie University, and has published widely on Kant's moral and political philosophy and moral evil.

Current research

Paul’s current research interests revolve around Immanuel Kant’s moral and political philosophy. Paul is currently undertaking a three year project entitled: ‘Justice, Deliberative Democracy, Civic Virtue and Political Identity: the Contemporary Relevance of Kant's Political Philosophy’. Paul is also interested in moral, political and social philosophy more broadly, moral evil, and the political theory of Hannah Arendt.
